Electrification of European vehicles in operation and its impact on the aftermarket
As the rise in battery-electric vehicles translates into fewer service needs, the aftermarket needs to broaden its offerings to compensate for the declining revenue streams with battery health and longevity becoming critical factors.
The European Union has set a target to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. It hopes to meet its targets with the widespread use of electric vehicles, as road transport accounts for nearly a quarter of its emissions. The EU wants at least 30 million zero-emission cars on European roads by 2030, or about 9% of the current car fleet.
