US government warns against increased circulation of counterfeit car parts
Over 211,000 counterfeit automotive parts seized in 2024, with a tenfold surge in air bags, posing significant safety risks.
The US Department of Transportation's Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) has issued a safety notice concerning the rising distribution of counterfeit and substandard safety devices including air bag inflators, modules, seatbelt pretensioners and other supplemental restraint system (SRS) components.
