The plant, opening in 2027, aims for chemical recycling of tires aligning with Bridgestone's sustainable growth and circular economy efforts.

Bridgestone has announced its plans to construct a pilot demonstration plant for the precise pyrolysis of end-of-life tires at its facility in Seki City, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. The plant, set to commence operations in 2027, is aimed at showcasing technology for the chemical recycling of tires, specifically to extract tire-derived oil and recovered carbon black. This initiative is part of Bridgestone's strategy outlined in its Mid Term Business Plan (2024-2026) for sustainable growth and aligns with its efforts since 2022 to promote the chemical recycling of end-of-life tires to foster a circular economy.
