"Grey area" over emissions limits causes confusion for garages and threatens further prosecutions

A recent court case involving AET Motorsport has highlighted a legal grey area surrounding car modifications that could put drivers and businesses at risk of prosecution, according to a news report by Autocar UK dated Feb. 9. The court found the company guilty of illegally altering a car's catalytic converter and engine control unit to increase noise levels, making it illegal to drive on public roads.
